reminder, voting is cool
It is once again voting time here in my home state. And once again, I am the only one of my peers talking about it.
It completely baffles me that young people aren't voting. I'm 22 and have been lucky enough to vote in almost every election I've been eligible for. Presidential elections, senate elections, midterms, amendments, and local. Not to mention the primaries that I've been lucky enough to participate in. And it's not that hard! There's 1 million vote guides and so many people not only in government but in advocacy groups that are begging you to call them so they can help you find a polling place. And yes, voter suppression is a real thing (even in 2025!). But the amount of ignorance that some people are willing to live with in regards to our political system is insane. And I understand that not everyone has the time to vote. But my friends do! And they roll their eyes every time I bring it up. And then, those same people complain about our elected officials when they didn't even vote! Like, you had a chance to say something and you chose not to!
So many people fought for your right to vote and you choose to discard that privilege. It makes me sad.
All that to say: I'm voting tomorrow wish me luck
